Bluebird helped raise over $300,000 for Kids Charities
Bluebird was proud to sponsor the Inaugural Sisters of the Saddle (SOTS) Cycling Challenge, which raised just over $300,000 for Traction. The OKG/Bluebird Team were the highest fundraiser for the event, contributing nearly $100,000!!
SOTS future plans have been energised by all the support they received for this years event. Every dollar of each riders’ fundraising goes directly to our Charity Partners. $30,000 of the Corporate Sponsorship money has gone towards event costs, with the remaining funds going directly to Traction.
The SOTS team reported that there were two main reason why they decided to start their own organisation.
SOTS wanted control over the charities they wish to support
To be transparent about the amount of dollars donated directly charity
As an organisation, SOTS particular interests are social inequities and empowering women within the community. They feel it imperative to maintain a strong connection with their charity partners, in order to witness the positive impact fundraising provides to the vulnerable people and communities benefitting from these charities - making every donation worthwhile.
Who are the SOTS?
Sisters of the Saddles (SOTS) was established in 2022 to connect women who want to make a difference in the lives of the children who are ‘at risk’ in our community. We raise money in a transparent way and ensure all funds raised go directly to the chosen charities.
The SOTS Challenge: 23-25 October 2022
Following a 10-week professional training program, 40 female community leaders spent 3 days cycling 350km through the Gold Coast hinterland to Brisbane, with 2,500m of hill climbing!
Our Charity Partner
SOTS is proud to support TRACTION as the charity partner for the 2022 ride.
TRACTION empowers young people through mentoring and hands-on learning designed to
build confidence and skills.
TRACTION engages young people, typically aged 12-15 through innovative early intervention programs. Young people work 'on the tools' in a workshop environment to complete their own projects, develop practical team and leaderships skills and adopt active, healthy lifestyles.
They are taught respectful behaviour, responsibility, teamwork, and a new way of learning. Participants complete their own projects and experience success. They develop confidence, connections, self-esteem, career aspirations, and hope for their future.
How the SOTS Funds are Being Used - Collaborative Indigenous Communities
Using the funds raised by SOTS, TRACTION will engage directly with a SEQ Indigenous school or youth organisation, local community Elders and young people, to co-design and deliver a program that incorporates TRACTION's holistic youth mentoring approach and culturally safe, interconnected and sustainable initiatives that meet the unique needs of the community and its young people.
At the centre of this project is the importance of a strong connection to culture through planning and delivery to support Indigenous young people to choose healthy and productive life pathways.
