Q&A on Social and Affordable Housing - ULI Event

Bluebird’s Co-Founder & Partner Claire O'Rourke alongside, Honourable Leeanne Enoch (Minister for Communities and Housing Minister for Digital Economy and Minister for the Arts), Rebecca Oelkers (CEO of BHC Creating Liveable Communities) and Jon Eastgate (Partner, 99 CONSULTING LTD) spoke at the Urban Land Institute Q&A on Social and Affordable Housing.

The audience had the pleasure of listening to Honourable Leeanne Enoch, who spoke about the Queensland Government’s strategy to deliver more social and affordable housing for vulnerable Queenslanders. Rebecca Oelkers and Jon Eastgate shared their expert opinions on the affordable housing space, and provided their views on what reform is required to solve the housing crisis.

The biggest take away from the night was, “we should not think of this as a [housing] crisis that needs a quick fix rather, we are dealing with a long-term problem that needs a series of significant reforms over time”.

PIF Sleep Out for Homeless Youth

The Bluebird team spent the night on the rooftop of QueensPlaza in support of Homeless Youth. The team heard from Leanne and Allan from BABI Youth and Family services who shared insights into what it must be like for our young people in need.

We raised over $2,600 and were a part of the Top 5 Fundraisers for the event!
