Do More: Social Commitment

At Bluebird we understand the importance of social commitment and source ways to enrich the wider community. Bluebird represent their social commitment by involving themselves with time on charity committees, hosting and attending fundraising events, as well as mentoring programs.

Co-founder Riye Arai-Coupe is on the Property Council Australia (PCA) Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which is in place to build diversity and inclusion across the property industry. The committee champions specific networking, learning, and sponsorship opportunities.  The PCA is the leading advocate for Australia’s biggest industry and biggest employer in property.

Another committee associated with PCA is the 500 Women In Property. Riye is also involved in the 500 Women in Property which is a personal commitment of PCA members to identify and champion women in their organisation or business sphere, who they believe would benefit from further networking and professional development opportunities. This year we have our very own Kate Cornwell who was accepted into this hotly contested 500 Women In Property Program. Kate is one of our highly skilled and passionate Development Managers and is an active participant in the industry. 500 Women in Property is an initiative of the Property Council’s Diversity and Inclusion Committees throughout Australia. The program aims to accelerate more women into leadership positions in the property industry through sponsorship of high potential talent.

Co-founder Claire O’Rourke is on the UDIA Housing Supply and Affordability Committee where herself and other members have a responsibility in identifying aspects of local and state policies and practises that are impacting on the development of all types of housing and land supply. This committee is about recognising emerging housing issues and advising on an appropriate industry response to those issues, including technical design and siting issues for subdivisions and housing.

Bluebird is also involved in the UDIA Queensland Mentoring Program for 2022. Riye and Claire again continue as mentors and avid supporters of this important program. Our Development Assistant Anne, will be in attendance this year as a mentee. The program connects young professionals to senior property development professionals with significant industry experience. This gainful experience will prove beneficial for all emerging leaders involved.

Lastly, Riye and Kate, have joined the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) for 2022/2023 alongside an enthusiastic group of industry professionals. More specifically, Kate is part of the PIF Future Leaders Committee to contribute driving tangible support for youth homelessness. PIF is powered by the industry and brings together a unique collaboration with industry leaders to have a tangible impact on youth homelessness.

The PIF builds homes for homeless youth and provides ongoing support for homes where young people can rebuild their lives.

Bluebird has and continues to be apart of fundraising committees and charity events. Some of these include Chain Reaction where our Co-founder Claire cycled in the Women’s 3 Day Challenge where a total of $370,000 was raised from the event. Chain Reaction Foundation supports children’s charities by holding annual bike riding events.

BEDDOWN is another charity where Bluebird and the team hosted a Lawn Bowls event with 35 female property professionals. BEDDOWN is a charity for the homeless, they provide a safe, secure, and comfortable place for a great night's sleep. We believe this is such an important charity to be a part of because everyone deserves a bed to sleep in.
