Canungra Master Planned Retirement Community DA Lodgement

Things are progressing well on our client’s Canungra lifestyle project, with the Development Application lodged in December 2020.

The large 23-hectare parcel sits within the small and tight-knit community of Canungra in the Gold Coast’s hinterlands, and so we knew going into the DA process we would need to do a lot of work with the community to collectively achieve a great outcome.

From this early engagement, we quickly learnt the key areas that residents would be concerned with were the retention of vegetation, water management and ensuring respectful preservation of the village atmosphere and community. And by understanding this, we have worked to ensure these are key considerations in the proposal right from the beginning of the design process.

The Bluebird team spent months prior to our lodgement engaging with the local residents and key stakeholders, one by one, to ensure they understood the respectful and holistic approach the developers had taken in the design of the precinct. We are proud to say that every meeting continues to successfully build trust and understanding between the broader Canungra community and the development team.

The development proposes to deliver a master planned ‘Over 50’s’ Retirement Estate, providing a mix of 188 two and three-bedroom houses, extensive residents’ communal facilities and an environmentally sensitive design approach across the entire project.
