QLD Property & Economic Outlook
It was great to hear from Dr Brendan Rynne and the panel of developers unpack the economic conditions impacting real estate trends in Australia.
Development project management and advisory firm Bluebird Partner Riye Arai-Coupe said despite the challenging conditions across the industry in Queensland, to date none of the company’s clients have been shelving projects.
“We’ve been quite cautious,” she said. “And when we started seeing some of these pressures from the market, we made sure that our projects and our feasibilities were fairly robust and had some adequate contingencies in place. But that’s not to say that projects that we’ve worked on haven’t had their fair share of challenges. Arai-Coupe also said towards the end of last year there had been “a definite softening of the market” that was reflected in terms of both sales inquiries and transactions.

South East Queensland Regional Plan Review - UDIA
We heard from the Deputy Premier Steven Miles and Director General, Mike Kaiser’s outlook on the review of the plan, along with the process that was undertaken by the department to deliver the Review. The scope of the Review, the implications for industry, and our capacity to deliver housing to Queenslanders in a timely manner were hot topics of the discussion.
Ben Slack- Urbis, David Laner - Stockland, and Bluebird’s Co-Founder Claire O’Rourke joined the Director General on the panel and provided industry perspectives on the critical focus areas of the Review, with consideration to current housing demand and supply issues.
